Murder Under the Microscope
A competitive online and integrated CD-ROM eco game, Professional Challenge, Murder Under the Microscope, for students in high schools, TAFE, universities and in professional employment, was developed in partnership with NSW Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC), the NSW Department of Education, and the Open Training Education Network (OTEN).
The steering committee included representatives from Waterwatch Australia, NSW Department of Education, TAFE NSW, The University of Sydney, Department of Lands and Water conservation, Sydney Water, and the Murray Darling Basin Commission.
The benefits of the project to the student community included finding out more about the environment and scientific investigations, and competing and comparing performance against peers and other institutions. Through scientific activities, the game tied together all the post compulsory years of learning (school through Tertiary).
Professional Challenge Murder Under the Microscope represented an important step in realising the continuum of learning and in facilitating communication between tertiary students, career scientists and school students contemplating further education and career prospects.
